Mysida

Etwa 1000 Arten umfasst die Ordnung der Schwebegarnelen. Die Mehrzahl ist glasartig transparent, daher werden sie auch als Glaskrebse bezeichnet. Bis auf 35cm große Arten aus der Tiefsee sind die Individuen mit max 2,5 cm eher klein. Allerdings können sie in Schwärmen auftreten die eine Länge von mehreren Kilometern erreichen. Sie ernähren sich von organischen Partikeln und Kleinstlebewesen. Sie selbst dienen wiederum als Teil des tierisches Planktons (Zooplankton) als Nahrung für Fische. Es werden 4 Familien unterschieden.
